About this therapy
Acupuncture places very fine, sterile, single-use needles at specific points on the body. It comes from traditional Chinese medicine, where the points are mapped along channels across the body. At this clinic it is carried out by Dr. Gound, who holds an MD in acupuncture.
What a session involves
The first visit starts with a detailed conversation and an examination; the doctor explains which points are being used and why before anything is done. The needles are far thinner than injection needles — most people feel a brief prick or a dull, heavy sensation, and then rest with them in place for 15–25 minutes. Only sterile, single-use needles are used. Tell the doctor if you are pregnant, take blood thinners, or have a pacemaker.
