A chalazion is a small firm lump in the eyelid caused by a blocked oil gland. It is usually painless, unlike a stye, and can persist for weeks.

How a consultation works

The doctor examines the eyelid and discusses simple measures such as warm compresses and lid hygiene. Anything affecting vision, or a lump that does not settle, is referred to an eye specialist.
